Infractions, Redactions and Appropriate Reactions

Infractions

In Open Debates we use an infraction system. Each infraction corresponds to a punishment received. The amount of infractions a user has dictates their next punishment. Upon reaching 15 infractions the user will be put up for banning. Each infraction corresponds to the following mute time:

03 Warns in 14 days = 12h Timeout
06 Warns in 14 days = 01d Timeout
09 Warns in 14 days = 01d Timeout
12 Warns in 14 days = 01d Timeout + Isolation
15 Warns in 14 days = 03d Timeout

Redactions

In addition to manually removing content which breaches our rules, we also remove content automatically based on the presence of certain words. The reason for this is that sentences can be formulated without the use of certain words and still get the point across. We recognize that these filters in certain contexts would stifle legitimate uses of the banned words, but the benefits outweigh the cost of having to use replacements for the words.

One of the banned words with potentially legitimate use.

nigger, nigga, nignog, kike, fag, faggot, retard, autist, jap, chink, chingchong, (((echo))), tranny, coon, golliwog/wog, gypsy, redskin, slanteye, spic

It is also such that these words are not allowed in voice chats, and that we punish the use of them as if there is a party offended present under §1.4 of our rules. Auto deleted words do not count for this unless they are targeted.
